San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center Receives LEED Platinum


Nov 2009 - The San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center, a 5,600 square foot environmentally friendly nature center, replaces the previous center and is the first public building in San Diego County to receive the USGBC's highest certification as LEED Platinum, through the extensive use of natural daylighting, renewable building materials, radiant floor heating and Photovoltaic power.  Electrical Engineering provided by Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. Jacobs Center for Community Innovation


The Jacobs Center for Community Innovation is a 72,500 square foot facility built to serve the community goals of Southeast San Diego neighborhoods. Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. provided MEP design services for this $23.5 Million, three-story multi-purpose facility featuring a large main hall on the first floor.

City of La Mesa Civic Service Facilities

As part of a neighborhood redevelopment and modernization effort, Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. provided design services for several civic service facilities in the city of La Mesa, California. These facilities include a City Library, Post Office and Police Station.

Village Walk at Eastlake

Consisting of approximately 165,000 square feet of high-end retail shops and restaurants, Village Walk at Eastlake is designed to serve as both a shopping experience and town center for the residents of Chula Vista, California. Earth tones, stone architecture and elegant lighting combine to create an inviting "town center" appeal for the retail center. Shoppers are encouraged to stroll and relax while enjoying the fountains, ponds, intricate landscaping and specialty lighting lining the stone and brick walkways leading from shop to shop.

Cajon Valley Middle School Addition and Modernization

This project, Phase 2 of 4 phases at Cajon Valley Middle School in El Cajon, California consists of construction of approximately 32,000 square feet of classroom space including science rooms, computer labs and general use classrooms. Phase 1 consisted of a new 28,000 square foot gymnasium including locker room, band room, and multipurpose classrooms. Phase 3 featured the addition of a new administration facility. Phase 4, a second classroom/library/kitchen is currently under construction.

Schools Going Solar

Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. is proud to be part of this innovative sustainable design project for the Lemon Grove School District. The project consisted of approximately 18,000 square feet of photovoltaic (PV) module installation, totaling approximately 500kW of power generation at 3 schools in the Lemon Grove School District.

Fenton Marketplace

Built to serve the needs of a growing Mission Valley community, Fenton Marketplace is a 47-acre retail development built on a former quarry site in the San Diego River Valley. In addition to several retail shops and restaurants, the shopping center serves large corporate retailers including Costco, IKEA and Lowes. Per the Developer's requirements, specific lighting concepts were incorporated into the design, creating an inviting urban village atmosphere.
